Introducing The Parable Guy
This fictional post was written by a male with a desire to please God.....
I’m in the store minding my own business when I am approached by a beautiful woman. She smiles and flirts at me. I smile and flirt back at her. A friendly conversation that starts with an introduction. Hello, my name is… nice to meet you. It seems innocent, right? An innocent conversation leads to us exchanging numbers. The next day, I felt empty like an empty vessel. I felt empty like a hollow tunnel. Something is missing? I pick up my cell phone and called the woman from the store. We laughed and giggled, shared personal stories, and talked about similar interests. Later, I agreed to go over her house for a candle light dinner. After dinner, things became intimate. With a kiss to end the night, I left and returned home to be greeted by my wife with a tender kiss. I felt even more empty with guilt and sorrow.
Why was I unfaithful? Why was I deceitful? I was unfaithful and deceitful because of temptation. Temptation comes in many forms. Temptation comes in materialism, anger, pride, and greed. However, the temptation that causes men to look into their woman’s eyes and deceive. The temptation that pulls a man away from his girlfriend who he worked so hard to receive. The temptation that causes women to weep and men to creep is sexual temptation.
How do we fight sexual temptation? Remember, the cause of all temptation is through emptiness. When life is holding you down, it’s easy to run into someone’s open arms. However, those open arms might close you in like a Venus flytrap and lock you into an abusive relationship. The answer is through God’s prayer and studying his word. If God died for us, shouldn’t we live for Him?
Remember, when you are empty don’t fill it up with regular gasoline. Fill it up with high octane. The regular gasoline is the cheap stuff like the erotic behavior, resentment, frustration, and ill will. The high octane is the Word of God. The Word of God gets the engine started, the motor rolling, and the fuel in motion. But remember, that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it.
(1 Corinthians 10:13).
