Spiritual Report Card
As a teacher every April I prepare for parent teacher conferences. I assess the progress of every student and compare their growth and development from the last evaluation in the fall. They are graded in many categories and subjects. Teachers prepare for this day by preparing lessons to teach, introducing a variety of topics throughout the year the students will be expected to know and teach review lessons. They further prepare students by giving them homework, quizzes, exams, and projects to present.
Well how does God prepare us for the next level?
He gives us the Holy Spirit as a reminder, His word as text to study before the test, and fellowship at our local church to share ideas and develop lifelong friendships and he allows trials to be the test that will let him know if we are ready to move forward.
How would we measure up if we were given a spiritual report card?
What grade would we get in...
Patience
Self Control
Faith
Bible Study
Passion
Ministry
Evangelism
Forgiveness
Gratitude
Prayer/Fasting
Did we make progress? Are we ready to move on to the next class of life or do we need to repeat this level?
Like a proficient teacher God will not elevate us until He knows we are ready.
Ex: What would you do with a 60% increase in your income? Would you tithe 10% or would you keep it all for your own gain?
Ex: How would you treat that new relationship you are praying to have? Will you exclude all your friends and family members? Will you value him more than your ministry or even the one who sent him in your life?
Will God be able to entrust you with more? Are you faithful with the few?
I don't know about you but I would want God to tell me the truth. Reveal to me what I need to work on and what I need more time to perfect before I move on to the next step in my life.
God wants us to succeed!
It is reassuring to know as a student this teacher knows my best work and believes the best is yet to come!
Besides if you are really struggling on the verge of failing He will always give you a G for Grace to bring your average up!
Thank you Heavenly Father for being the best teacher I could ever have!
